Opening of the Tomb of the Pomegranates
Since the 1st February 2018 The Tomb of the Pomegranates is open to the visitors. This tomb was discovered In 1971, during the construction of the Museum, an important hypogeum. This tomb probably belonged to a family of wealthy class who used it for many generations from the 4th to the 2nd century B.C. On the walls you can admire some paintings such as the pomegranate, symbol of eternity.
Its peculiarity consists in its doorway through a two-monolithic door stone, which has got a sunk handle. Today this door extraordinarily turns on its hinges carved into the stone blocks.
